Qualifications for Muscogee (Creek) Nation Principal Chief & Second Chief:

1/4 or more Creek

An enrolled citizen of the Tribe

30 years of age

Reside within the Creek Nation boundaries one full calendar year

Must be a Tribal registered voter six (6) months prior to filing as a Candidate

No felony within the last ten (10) years, a background check will be conducted

Employees of the Tribe who file as a candidate must take a leave of absence
Upon filing please provide the following items:

Tribal enrollment card

Cashiers check or money order
-
And verification of residence

Creek Nation Employees who file as a candidate needs to provide verification of leave of absence
Verification of one (1) year residence must be three of the followingdocuments:
(ALL DOCUMENTS MUST CONTAIN THE SAME PHYSICAL ADDRESS)
- Income tax return for the preceding year
- Homestead exemption
- A copy of House Deed or statement from Creek Nation Housing Authority containing dates of residency
- If renting; a notarized statement from the landlord containing dates of residency
- Utility bill or bills in candidates name; a 12 months report from PSO can be obtained
- Muscogee (Creek) Nation Voter's identification card
(Signed acknowledgement of residency from family or friends will not be accepted.)
Filing is three days, Monday through Wednesday 9:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. Candidates must provide all documentation upon filing. (Chief and Second Chief Elections are held every four years)
