Qualifications for Muscogee (Creek) Nation Principal Chief & Second Chief:

  • 1/4 or more Creek
  • An enrolled citizen of the Tribe
  • 30 years of age
  • Reside within the Creek Nation boundaries one full calendar year
  • Must be a Tribal registered voter six (6) months prior to filing as a Candidate
  • No felony within the last ten (10) years, a background check will be conducted
  • Employees of the Tribe who file as a candidate must take a leave of absence

Upon filing please provide the following items:

  • Tribal enrollment card
  • Cashiers check or money order
  • And verification of residence
  • Creek Nation Employees who file as a candidate needs to provide verification of leave of absence

Verification of one (1) year residence must be three of the followingdocuments:
(ALL DOCUMENTS MUST CONTAIN THE SAME PHYSICAL ADDRESS)

  • Income tax return for the preceding year
  • Homestead exemption
  • A copy of House Deed or statement from Creek Nation Housing Authority containing dates of residency
  • If renting; a notarized statement from the landlord containing dates of residency
  • Utility bill or bills in candidates name; a 12 months report from PSO can be obtained
  • Muscogee (Creek) Nation Voter's identification card
    (Signed acknowledgement of residency from family or friends will not be accepted.)

Filing is three days, Monday through Wednesday 9:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. Candidates must provide all documentation upon filing.

(Chief and Second Chief Elections are held every four years)

The Election Board Office is located in the main Complex. As you enter the complex building the office is through the first glass door to the right.
