HIGHER EDUCATION SCHOLARSHIP

The Creek Nation of Oklahoma Higher Education Program will expend funds through self-governance for the education of Indian students by awarding educational grants to aid Creek students of any degree Indian blood attending accredited institutions of higher learning.  The Creek Nation will work to ensure that the special needs of Creek students are addressed to prevent unnecessary withdrawals from higher education institutions.

 STUDENT ELIGIBILITY AND REQUIREMENTS

  • Copy of Certificate Degree of Indian Blood (CDIB)
  • Copy of Creek Tribal Enrollment Card
  • Recent Photograph
  • Letter of acceptance from College or University
  • High School Transcript or G.E.D. Certificate
  • Creek Nation Higher Education Original Application
  • Signed Privacy Statement
  • Financial need must be established through the financial aid office at the College or University

Students who receive a grant are required to earn a minimum of 15 hours per semester or quarter with a grade point average of no less than 2.0.  Students earning less than 12 hours or less than 1.0 grade point average will be suspended, unless they can provide documentary evidence of illness.  Students earning less than 15 hours or less than a 2.0 G.P.A. will be placed on academic probation.  This program is limited to 10 semesters of funding.  Funding is limited to Pell-eligible Undergraduate Students only.

Students who withdraw from school officially or unofficially will be suspended until they have financed themselves one full semester and earned 12 credit hours with a semester grade point average of at least a 2.0 or provide documented proof of illness.

December 15th-Spring Semester

 

 PARTICIPATION REQUIREMENTS 

FULL-TIME STUDENTS

Full-time students must earn at least 15 hours per semester.  The Creek Nation Scholarship Grant will help pay for some of the basic cost to the student.  These are:

  • Tuition & Fees
  • Books & Supplies
  • Room & Board
  • Transportation
  • Personal Expenses
  • Other (medical, child care, ect.)

 

PART-TIME STUDENTS

Part-time students (less than 12 credit hours) will be funded for tuition, fees and books not to exceed the in-state cost at a two or four year College or University.  A need must be established through the financial aid office at college or university. 

 

The Muscogee (Creek) Nation is a tribal government located in east central Oklahoma. The Creek Nation boundary includes eleven (11) Counties: Creek, Hughes (Tukvpvtce), Mayes, McIntosh, Muskogee, Okfuskee, Okmulgee, Rogers, Seminole, Tulsa and Wagoner.
