Position:  Staff Dentist - Koweta

DESCRIPTION OF ASSIGNMENT: The purpose of the position is to provide dental health services to the designated population of the Muscogee (Creek) Nation in accordance with Indian Health Service (IHS) and Muscogee Nation Health System policies. This position is located in the Coweta Health System in Coweta, Oklahoma.   The Health System provides comprehensive health care services to Native Americans living within the Muscogee (Creek) Nation through the Muscogee (Creek) Nation Community Hospital (CNCH) and five (5) ambulatory health centers in Eufaula, Okemah, Okmulgee, Sapulpa and Coweta.  The Health System also maintains nine (9) Field Health operations consisting of the  Behavioral Health Services (BHS); Vocational Rehabilitation Services; Contract Health Services (CHS); Community Health Representative (CHR); the Elderly Nutrition Program (ENP); the Women’s, Infants and Children (WIC) Programs; the Tobacco Prevention Program (TPP); the Reintegration Program (RIP); and the Diabetes Prevention Programs.

 


REQUIREMENTS: Candidates must meet the following requirements:

A DDS or DMD from a dental school accredited by the Commission on Dental Accreditation and a certificate from an accredited General Practice Residency program. Or, a DDS or DMD from a dental school accredited by the Commission on Dental Accreditation. Licensure or ability to be licensed to practice dentistry in a state, territory or commonwealth of the United States, or in the District of Columbia. One (1) year of relevant experience in addition to experience gained through an accredited residency program or three (3) additional years of relevant experience without certification from an accredited residency program as stated in the educational requirements.        

   


EVALUATION METHODS: Applicants who meet the requirements described above will be evaluated to determine the extent to which they possess or have the potential to acquire knowledge, skills, abilities and personal characteristics, (KSAP's) required of this position. Applicants should address the following KSAP's on a separate attachment to their application.

 

1.   Knowledge of pertinent rules, standards, regulations, policies and procedures governing the dental health care industry.

2.   Knowledge of standard and moderately complex clinical dental practice skills.

3.   Knowledge of standards of care concerning routine and complex dental conditions including diagnostic therapeutic and preventive dental techniques and protocols.

4.   Ability to communicate effectively with patients, dental and medical staff, administrative staff, health care professionals and the general public both  orally and in writing.
