Muscogee (Creek) Nation
COMMUNICATIONS DEPARTMENT
The Muscogee Nation Communications Department
serves to meet the needs of the tribe and its citizens through
the dissemination of relevant information regarding programs,
services, special events, and community, church, and ceremonial
grounds through its monthly publication, weekly radio program,
video and audio services, desktop publishing and print production,
digital photography, on-line services and other available mediums.
It provides media support services to the tribal administration,
National Council, independent agencies, and other tribal entities.
It also serves to encourage Muscogee and American Indian students
to pursue careers in visual arts as well as foster an awareness
of Native visual art forms.
As the official publication of the Muscogee (Creek) Nation, The
Muscogee Nation News is the only comprehensive and official means
for communication between citizens and its government.
The communications department strives to: disseminate relevant
information regarding programs, services, special events, and
community, church, and ceremonial grounds as requested or necessary;
preserve history through print, audio, and visual means on a day-to-day
basis; continually document cultural and current events as the
de facto archive for the tribe; provide The Muscogee Nation News
at no charge to citizens upon request and proof of tribal citizenship
on a monthly basis; provide media support (i.e., photography,
graphic design, printing, video and audio services) to the tribal
administration, National Council, independent agencies, and other
tribal entities as requested or necessary; promote careers in
visual arts through the department-administered Native American
Film Scholarship program; and promote public awareness of native
visual art forms through the Muscogee Film Festival. |
