The Higher Education Administers three (3) grant programs for students pursuing an Associate’s or Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited college or university. Only NEW APPLICANTS are required to complete an application. If you are currently receiving funding from the Higher Education program you are not required to complete an application each semester. Continuing students need to submit their official transcript from the semester in which they were funded, as well as a class schedule for the upcoming semester to stay eligible for the program.

Tribal Funds Grant

  • Applications available Feb. 1 – June 1 for FALL Semester
  • Applications available Nov. 1 – Dec. 15 for SPRING Semester

Tribal Funds Grant will be awarded to enrolled citizens of the Muscogee (Creek) Nation attending an accredited college or university with no blood minimum quantity required. Funding for this grant does not require Pell-eligibility.  Undergraduate students are eligible for this grant.  The award amount will be determined by the number of hours in which student is enrolled up to a maximum of 18 hours.  Award rate = $125.00 per credit hour.

Eligibility Criteria for this grant is listed below:

  • Student will be required to submit copy of schedule prior to each semester
  • Student will be required to submit official transcript at the end of each semester
  • Student must maintain a GPA of 2.5 or higher

**Half credit hours will not be considered in the award amounts.  (Example: student has 12.5 credit hours, the award will be considered for 12 credit hours)

  • Chart based on funding for Fall and Spring semesters only, does not include summer funding.
  • Students in need of summer courses to complete a degree program may be eligible for funding if funds are available

Academic Probation will occur when:

  • Student is earning less than a 2.5 GPA but at least 1.5 GPA during the semester
  • Student drops up to three credit hours during the semester in which they were funded

Grant Suspension will occur when:

  • Student drops below a 1.5 GPA during the semester
  • Students that drop more than three credit hours during the semester in which they were funded
  • Students who withdraw officially or unofficially from school without a valid medical reason or other valid reason

Reinstatement from suspension will occur after students completes the following semester, without tribal grant, at the required hours and required GPA.  The required hours will be determined based on students’ previous award amount.  Students awarded for full time hours (12 hrs or more) will be required to complete full time hours during the suspended term; while students that were awarded for part time hours (11 hrs or less) will be required to complete part time hours during suspended term.

Student is responsible for submitting Official Transcript at the end of each semester to maintain eligibility of the grants/scholarship program.

Creek Nation of Oklahoma Scholarship Grant

(BIA Grant)


  • Applications available Feb. 1 – June 1 for FALL Semester
  • Applications available Nov. 1 – Dec. 15 for SPRING Semester

The Muscogee (Creek) Nation Higher Education Program will expend funds through self-governance to award educational grants to our tribal citizens, with no minimum blood quantum required, attending accredited institutions of higher learning. Funding for this grant is limited to Pell-eligible undergraduate students only.

Eligibility Criteria

  • Student must be enrolled in a minimum of 15 hours
  • 12 hours may be accepted with documentation from doctor or employer
  • Student must maintain a GPA of a 2.0 or higher

Grant Requirements

  • Completed Application
  • Copy of CDIB (Certificate of Degree of Indian Blood)
  • Copy of Creek Citizenship Card
  • Signed Privacy Statement
  • Recent Photograph
  • Letter of Acceptance from College/Univ.
  • High School/College Transcript or GED

Academic Probation will occur when

  • Student is taking less than 15 hours
  • Student is earning less than a 2.0 GPA

Grant Suspension will occur when

  • Student is earning less than 12 hours
  • Student is earning less than a 1.0 GPA
  • Student withdraws officially or unofficially from school

Suspended students will be required to earn one full semester (12 hours) with a GPA of 2.0 or better before eligibility will be reinstated!

Student is responsible for submitting Official Transcript at the end of each semester to maintain eligibility of the grants/scholarship program.

Tribal Incentive Grant

The Tribal Incentive Grant Program will award citizens of the Muscogee Nation who meet the grade point requirements at an accredited school. Students attending college with a GPA of 3.0 or better during the semester are able to apply for this program.

Eligibility Criteria:

  • Students must have a GPA of 3.0 or better for the semester
  • Student is required to submit official transcript within 30 days of the end of the semester
  • Students considered Full-Time (12 or more hours) are eligible for $700
  • Students considered Part-Time (Less than 12 hours) are eligible for $350

FALL TRANSCRIPTS ARE DUE BY JANUARY 31

SPRING TRANSCRIPTS ARE DUE BY JUNE 30
